Case Study
NRG 804 Carnegie Center
Opened in June 2016, NRG's 130,000-square-foot LEED Platinum headquarters in Princeton, New Jersey.
Key Highlights: Combined Heat and Power Plant (CHP) feeds most of the building electrical demand while providing thermal energy to supplement the HVAC demand. A 45-ton absorption chiller, an ice melt system, and baseboard heat, all utilize waste heat produced by the CHP plant to maximize energy efficiency and help with sustainability.
Solar thermal heating system is implemented and uses the sun's energy to domestic water.
The building lighting system is a state-of-the-art Lutron system that takes advantage of daylight harvesting. On sunny days, lights near the windows are dimmed or turned off to help reduce energy consumption. The lighting system is integrated with the BMS system via BACnet.
